Our North Port, Florida Home
Sandy and I moved to Florida in June of 2021 after spending quite a bit of time house hunting during multiple trips (we know a great realtor if you need one!) We happened to find a house located on the Cocoplum canal in North Port, Florida. We both spent our life living in the northeast, so this was going to be a big change for us.
After surviving the first summer with no hurricanes, we were faced with Hurricane Ian last September. We decided to evacuate to the east coast of Florida when we saw that the hurricane was heading right towards us as a high category 4. Our neighbors informed us that we had lost our pool cage in the storm, but otherwise our house was essentially undamaged. We were very lucky and thankful that we were spared for the most part.
I will be starting a blog that will document some of our experiences living here, and the wildlife that we experience daily living on the Cocoplum canal. We have lots of birds, alligators, lizards, turtles, fish, etc. that continually brighten our days here. I hope that you enjoy this.
